Tuesday, April 27, 2010

The historic signing of the health care reform legislation by President Obama on March 23 and follow-up legislation will lead to increased government scrutiny, additional compliance and disclosure obligations, and enhanced penalties for violations. The Health Care Fraud and Prevention and Enforcement Action Team (HEAT), a joint task force between the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, will receive substantial new funding under the new law to further its efforts at preventing and detecting fraud. Are you prepared for mandatory compliance and enhanced government oversight?

Nixon Peabody’s webinar discussion will review and offer practical suggestions of how best to plan for the fraud and abuse and mandatory compliance program provisions of health care reform laws, including:

  • The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)
  • The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act
  • False Claims Act Amendments
  • Anti-Kickback Statute Amendments
  • The Physician Payment Sunshine Act
