ExperienceTavares Brewington joined the Products Liability, Mass & Complex Tort group in the fall of 2005. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brewington lived and worked in Klagenfurt, Austria as a coach of Carinthian Black Lions, an American Football team in the Austria Football League for the 2005 season. He also worked as a legal intern for the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General Clinical Program in 2003 to 2004. Mr. Brewington was also a summer associate at John Hancock Financial Services, Inc. in 2003 under Wayne Budd, Esq. and at Blackwell & Igbanugo in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2002 and 2003. Cases and ActivitiesMr. Brewington defends numerous institutional clients in both federal and state courts in Massachusetts. He has received defense verdicts on behalf of clients in cases involving complex product liability issues. Mr. Brewington is the co-founder and co-chair of the Associates for Civil Rights, an organization that works with local law firm and other organizations to raise awareness of civil rights issues affecting local communities.
Partnering with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, Mr. Brewington co-authored an amicus brief on behalf of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, The Massachusetts Association of School Committees, Inc., in the recent United Supreme Court decision in the companion cases Parents Involved In Community Schools vs. Seattle School District No. 1 et al and Crystal D. Meredith, et al v. Jefferson County Board of Education, et al. The brief was submitted in support of the respondents in both cases.
