Experience

Robert Cummings concentrates his practice in the areas of public utilities law, general corporate law, and nonprofits. He also has a strong background in litigation.

Mr. Cummings has served as managing partner of the firm and as chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee. Before joining the firm in 1957, Mr. Cummings served in the United States Army Counterintelligence Corps.

Mr. Cummings is a former chairman of the Board of Selectmen and is currently a chairman of the Commissioners of Trusts Funds for the town of Reading. He is also a former chairman and currently a vice chairman, secretary, and member of the Board of Trustees for Hallmark Healthcare; a former member of Edison Electric Institute Legal Committee; chairman of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; president of the World Society for the Protection of Animals; secretary and member of the Board of Directors of Massbank; member of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Finance Committee of the New England Deaconess Association; and a director of the Burbank YMCA.
