Experience

Stephen Jones concentrates his practice in employment litigation, with a particular emphasis on complex class action lawsuits. He has successfully defended several Fortune 500 companies in lawsuits filed under the FLSA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ERISA, the ADA, the New York Human Rights Law, the ADEA, and the New York Labor Law. Mr. Jones is both a skilled litigator and negotiator and has been lead counsel on the negotiation of several multi-million dollar class action settlements.

Mr. Jones’ litigation experience also includes representing employers in equal employment opportunity proceedings before the New York State Division of Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In addition, Mr. Jones regularly counsels employers with respect to employment policies and procedures and compliance with state and federal employment laws. He has developed successful preventative, training, and auditing methodologies for companies in equal employment opportunity and wage-hour areas.

During 2006, Mr. Jones served on special assignment in the Legal Department of Eastman Kodak Company, where he was responsible for managing external counsel on litigation matters and counseling Kodak's business units.

In 2009, Mr. Jones was selected to the Rochester Business Journal's Forty Under 40 Award in recognition of his civic and professional achievement. Mr. Jones currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Step by Step, a Rochester-based organization dedicated to assisting and rehabilitating incarcerated women.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Jones was a member of the Syracuse Law Review, the Justinian Honorary Law Society, and the Moot Court Honor Society. Champion: 27th Annual McKenzie Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition of Syracuse Law School; Author: 50 Syr. L. Rev. 285 (2000).

Mr. Jones is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States District Court, Western District of New York, United States District Court, Northern District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
