Mr. Duggan has regional and national counsel responsibilities in products and mass torts litigation, including class actions and multidistrict litigation, and has served as New England regional counsel in environmental insurance coverage matters. His practice has him involved in litigation in a number of states including New York, Illinois, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, and California, in addition to his work in New England. Before entering private practice, Mr. Duggan was and Associate and Partner at WilmerHale (formerly Hale & Dorr) from 1980-1989. He also served as a law clerk to Hon. Frank H. Freedman in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Mr. Duggan has served Nixon Peabody and its legacy firms in firm management for approximately 20 years. He served on Peabody & Brown's Executive and Compensation Committee for seven years leading up to the merger with Nixon, Hargraves, Devans & Doyle. He sat on the Merger Committee that brought the two firms together. From 1999-2007, Mr. Duggan served as Chair of the firm's Litigation Department, with responsibility for over 325 lawyers in 14 offices coast to coast. As Department Chair, Mr. Duggan provided management and oversight of the Business Litigation, Intellectual Property, Products (including aviation) and Mass and Toxic Tort, Labor and Employment, Insurance, and Bankruptcy practice groups. As Department Chair, he served on the firm's Management and Compensation committees. He presently leads the firm's Training Program as Chancellor of NP Institute. AdmissionsMr. Duggan is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and all other state courts in Massachusetts. AffiliationsMr. Duggan is a trustee of Suffolk University and is a former three-term president of the Suffolk University Law School Alumni Association. He is also a Trustee of Archbishop Williams High School. For more than 25 years, Mr. Duggan has been a leader and active participant in the Milton Massachusetts town, through both local and school activities, including coaching youth and high school basketball and serving on the high school Hall of Fame Committee. |
