Brian Duffy is a litigator who represents a range of clients in business and insurance disputes. He is also active in pro bono matters.
What Do You Focus On?
I focus my practice on three primary areas.
I represent local and national companies in matters ranging from contract disputes, including contracts for the sale of goods, to disputes between LLC members and dissenter’s rights actions. My work in this field runs the gamut from drafting and responding to complaints and dispositive motions to managing paper and electronic discovery.
I regularly defend insurers against claims on title, professional liability and life insurance claims, frequently driving early settlements and winning dismissals.
In addition to representing clients in litigation, I also assist insurers and others in complying with various aspects of insurance regulation, with a particular focus on the regulation of extended warranty plans.
I maintain an active pro bono practice, primarily representing the interests of children in abuse and neglect and immigration cases.
What do you see on the horizon?
Upcoming changes to consumer protection laws may expose businesses to potentially costly class-action lawsuits based upon previously innocuous activities. Managing or changing processes and practices to avert such actions will challenge businesses in many industries.
