DAVID A. MARTLAND

David Martland is the Practice Group Leader of our Global Business & Transactions practice group, which includes our nationally recognized mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, and sophisticated business transactions practices.

David focuses his practice in the area of private and public companies, private equity investments and antitrust. David counsels private and public companies on the full range of corporate matters. He also represents a variety of private equity funds in connection with their investments.

In addition, David provides general antitrust advice to corporate and health care clients. He has successfully tried several complex antitrust cases and has represented numerous clients in antitrust investigations conducted by the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, and state regulators.

David has been recognized for exceptional standing in the legal community in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2006. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2007. David has also been recognized every year since 2004 as a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” and, since 2007, as a "“New England Super Lawyer” in Business and Corporate Law based on peer review surveys by Boston magazine. David was listed in The Legal 500 U.S. 2012-2013 as a leading attorney in mergers, acquisitions, and buyouts.

David clerked for Walter R. Mansfield, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Affiliations

David serves as Co-Chair of the Private Equity Practice Group of TerraLex, a worldwide network of 15,000 attorneys in more than 155 independent law firms located in 100 countries and 44 states.

He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Historic New England, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving New England buildings, landscapes, and objects dating from the 17th century to the present.
