Responsible Citizenship

Our success in securing LEED certification for our new San Francisco office is an example of our support for sustainable building practices and a healthy work environment. The office has been certified by the United States Green Building Council under the program for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), making Nixon Peabody the first law firm in the U.S. to be LEED-certified in the category of “Commercial Interiors.” The category includes all preexisting office buildings and commercial space. Click here for the architect’s take. In the coming months, other Nixon Peabody offices will also pursue LEED-certification.

Across the country we are putting sustainability plans into action with small and large steps—from improving our recycling practices to reduce paper use to greening our supply chain.

Nixon Peabody has coined the phrase “legally green” to denote the firm’s unique combination of legal experience, thought leadership, responsible citizenship, and commitment to serving our clients and our community well in today’s increasingly environmentally- and sustainability-conscious society and economy. Legally green is more than a slogan—it is an increasing element of our culture here at Nixon Peabody, and it reflects our commitment to the kinds of sustainable principles our clients are adopting and implementing.
