April Hua is an associate in the Entertainment practice group. She counsels clients on various transactional matters in the film and television, influencer, music, live entertainment, and advertising spaces.
I focus on transactional matters for entertainment industry clients, including actors, musicians, talent management companies, brands, startups, and influencers. In my current role, I leverage my background as an entertainment and intellectual property litigator, helping clients proactively mitigate risks and navigate licensing and content ownership issues while structuring their deals. I strive to build and protect my clients’ brands, execute strategic partnerships and promotional opportunities, and ensure compliance with shifting laws and regulations.
Content creators have more autonomy and flexibility than ever before to pursue their creative goals. Consequently, the ability to navigate new legal challenges and an ever-changing regulatory landscape remains crucial in this era of new media.
This report recognizing entertainment’s top dealmakers and litigators features NP’s Entertainment team, including partner and team leader Ellie Heisler, and partners Carron Mitchell, Christina Chang, and Farrah Usmani, all of the Los Angeles office and Corporate practice. The article highlights NP’s women-led team and entrepreneurial approach, and quotes Ellie on industry shifts in reaction to last year’s strikes. Los Angeles Corporate associate April Hua, a member of the firm’s Entertainment team, is also featured in the report as part of the publication’s 2024 “Up Next” group.
