Faced with mounting environmental costs, China has begun taking giant steps forward in building a green future. Some of the most impressive advances are taking place in green architecture— buildings designed for environmental sustainability. The energy consumed in manufacturing and transporting building materials, building homes and offices, and running heating/cooling systems represents nearly half of China’s total energy use. Green buildings can reduce energy and water consumption by up to 70 percent and land use by 25 percent. Green design not only helps protect the environment; it has become an enormous business opportunity in China’s booming real estate market.

Please join four leading planners and architects from the Bay Area and China, all of whom are heavily active in promoting and practicing green design in China, to learn how green design is taking off in that country and related business opportunities for Bay Area firms. We are especially pleased that Nixon Peabody is hosting the event. It is one of the first law firms in the nation to be recognized for employing green principles and sustainable building practices in the design of its offices.
