Nixon Peabody Names Gregory P. O’Hara, Energy and Environmental Partner, Managing Partner for Silicon Valley OfficePalo Alto, CA. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that Gregory P. O’Hara has been named managing partner of the firm’s Silicon Valley office. 4/16/2009 Mr. O’Hara joined Nixon Peabody in November 2008 from Thelen LLP, where he was managing partner of Thelen’s Silicon Valley office. He is a partner in the firm’s energy and environmental practice. Mr. O’Hara focuses his practice on cleantech startups, project development, corporate counseling and finance, and permitting. He has extensive transactional and energy regulatory experience. Mr. O’Hara also represents companies in the energy, chemical, and manufacturing markets in complex litigation and disputes. “The opportunities for our Silicon Valley office, from cleantech to digital media, have never been greater,” said Mr. O’Hara. “We have significant capabilities to help Silicon Valley clients in wide variety of areas, including intellectual property, labor and employment, environmental, and corporate transactions. We launched the Silicon Valley office more than two years ago with five attorneys under the leadership and dedication of Jim Chapman. Since that time, we have quadrupled the size of the office, most recently as part of our strategic expansion in the fall of 2008 with the addition of 13 former Thelen attorneys, including myself.” Mr. O’Hara succeeds Jim Chapman as office managing partner. Mr. Chapman will continue to work closely with the firm’s expanding China practice, in addition to focusing on securities law, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and international business transactions. Mr. O’Hara earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, magna cum laude, and he received his B.S., cum laude, from California Polytechnic State University.
