Nixon Peabody LLP Launches New Israeli Business Team9/3/2004 Mitchell C. Shelowitz, former general counsel and corporate secretary for Ceragon Networks Ltd. and founder and immediate past president of the Association of Corporate Counsel Israel, has joined Nixon Peabody LLP to lead a newly formed Israeli Business Team. He will be based in the New York City office. Nixon Peabody’s Israeli Business Team offers a full range of legal services to Israeli clients in their U.S. business activities and U.S. clients in connection with their Israeli business activities. With a multidisciplinary team of lawyers practicing in offices throughout the United States, Nixon Peabody is ideally suited to support these clients on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital transactions, joint ventures and strategic relationships, private and public offerings, Sarbanes-Oxley and general SEC compliance, commercial contracts, litigation, dispute resolution, and labor and employment issues, as well as in real estate, tax, patent, trademark, and copyright matters, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other U.S. government business. Mr. Shelowitz has recently returned to the U.S. after seven years in Israel, where he represented telecommunications and technology companies in their worldwide business activities. He has extensive experience representing Israeli and U.S. businesses—as both in-house and outside counsel—in a broad range of corporate, commercial, and technology transactions. He has a great deal of experience advising on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance for foreign private issuers, structuring and establishing overseas operations, and advising on international telecommunications tenders issued by government and private-sector entities. “Mitch is a seasoned international corporate lawyer with particular experience representing Israeli companies and we are delighted to have him join us,” said Richard F. Langan, Jr., partner and Business Group leader at Nixon Peabody LLP. “His experience as in-house counsel for leading foreign private issuers, and conducting transactions in more than twenty-five countries, significantly expands the firm’s ability to support the needs of our clients in today’s global playing field. Additionally, Mitch’s substantial in-house experience has provided him with a unique insight into the culture and client service expectations of Israeli companies.” Before joining Ceragon Networks, Mr. Shelowitz was legal counsel for Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of VSAT satellite earth stations. Prior to that, he was associated with the prestigious Tel Aviv corporate law firm Goldfarb, Levy, Eran & Co. Mr. Shelowitz is admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, and Israel and is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the Israel Bar |
