Health Services:  Health Information Technology

Nixon Peabody’s Health Information Technology team (HIT team) is a diverse group of practitioners experienced in health technology matters. They include:

  • Health care law and regulatory advice
  • Intellectual property and patent law
  • Corporate law
  • Stark and antikickback analyses
  • Vendor contracting
  • Data sharing agreements
  • Corporate governance and nonprofit status

The team has represented Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) and statewide health information exchanges, advising them on the organization and collaboration of stakeholders to form a RHIO and HIE, corporate formation and governance, privacy and security issues, and implementation of electronic prescribing and interoperable electronic health records.

Members of the HIT team have the knowledge and hands-on experience to navigate the complex technical legal issues that arise when health care information is exchanged across a broad range of constituents.
