Chicago, IL. Nixon Peabody LLP successfully represented Children’s Surgical Foundation, Inc. (“CSF”), an approximately 70-physician pediatric surgical practice, in an affiliation with the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (“Lurie Children’s”).
The affiliation, designed to further integrate the CSF surgeons and Lurie Children’s, involved the creation of a new subsidiary of the Lurie Children’s medical center, Lurie Children’s Surgical Foundation (“LCSF”). CSF’s physicians are faculty members at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and include surgeon-scientists conducting research through the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute.
Nixon Peabody partners Steven F. Banghart and Valerie Breslin Montague worked with CSF to transition its physician employees to LCSF. Spanning three years, Nixon Peabody helped to negotiate a structure that includes physician and hospital leadership at all levels: from hospital representation on the LCSF Board of Directors and committees, to LCSF physician leadership on the Lurie Children’s Board, committees and throughout the medical center as a whole.
