Chicago, IL. Elizabeth “Ela” Baio, an intellectual property partner with Global 100 law firm Nixon Peabody, has been appointed to the board of Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global™ (wegg®), a nonprofit whose mission is to help female-led businesses expand their reach worldwide.
Ela focuses her practice on intellectual property counseling. She handles a wide spectrum of patent and trademark prosecution and enforcement actions. Her experience includes prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent and trademark applications, clearance work, due diligence evaluations, preparing validity and infringement opinions, client management, licensing, domain name enforcement, and litigation matters.
With a background in chemical engineering, Ela has extensive experience advising companies in the mechanical and chemical space on the patent protection of their chemical products and processes, controlled release devices, biomedical devices, and consumer products, among others. Ela also has extensive experience in the technology sector.
The international reach of Ela’s practice, stretching across sectors, will be an asset to the work that wegg® does around the world. The nonprofit recently launched an educational series of live chat discussions called weggchat™, through which female entrepreneurs can learn the best practices to expand their businesses.
“I’m excited to join wegg®’s board. I believe in their mission and I look forward to contributing my experience with intellectual property law, both domestic and abroad, to the nonprofit’s steering committee,” said Ela.
