Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody is pleased to announce that Kathleen Ceglarski Burns and Christopher Froeb will serve as co-managing partners of its Boston office, continuing the firm’s charge toward creating the law firm of the future.

With more than 130 attorneys and a total of 300 employees in the Boston office, Nixon Peabody maintains a robust presence in the city. The office includes corporate, business litigation, real estate, government investigations and white collar defense, and intellectual property attorneys.

“We’re excited to have Kathleen and Chris continue our focus on attracting top talent to the Boston office and expanding client relationships across the region,” said Andrew Glincher, Nixon Peabody’s CEO and managing partner. “They are exceptional problem solvers who care deeply about our firm, our people, and the clients we serve.”

Kathleen, a partner in Nixon Peabody’s Litigation Department, represents corporations, partnerships, and individuals involved in complex commercial disputes and government investigations. She has broad experience handling all phases of civil litigation, and regularly guides clients through internal investigations, SEC enforcement actions, and inquiries conducted by the Department of Justice and other governmental agencies. Recently, Kathleen served as a key member of the legal team that secured a major victory on behalf of an investment banker vindicated in a securities fraud lawsuit brought by the SEC.

“The Boston office is home to so many talented and hard-working people who consistently commit themselves to the success of our clients," Kathleen said. "Since I started my career at Nixon Peabody, I’ve witnessed firsthand how our clients benefit from the knowledge, insights, and diverse experiences each person brings to the team. I'm looking forward to working with Chris to continue to grow Nixon Peabody’s reputation in Boston as a place that values our people and clients.”

A partner in the firm’s Affordable Housing and Real Estate practice, Chris represents local and national developers, investors, and owners in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions. Chris is particularly focused on representing national opportunistic and value-add investors, as well as local developers, in their joint venture transactions, acquisitions, and financings involving industrial properties, student housing and multifamily housing properties, and seniors housing properties.

“We’re excited to capitalize on the energy created by our new office space and success of the firm nationally,” Chris said. “Our predecessor, Ruth Silman, has been a passionate leader for the Boston office and I look forward to bringing a similar enthusiasm to our clients and colleagues each day. Across the firm, Nixon Peabody has had a great deal of recent recruiting success, and we want to continue building on that in Boston.”

Kathleen and Chris succeed Ruth Silman, who led the Boston office for the past three years and directed the firm’s early 2019 move to Exchange Place at 53 State Street. Ruth will remain focused on her practice and the areas in which she’s passionate: the environment, renewable energy, and responsible land-use work.
