Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody is pleased to announce the addition of Brooke Anderson and Alper Tosun as counsel in the firm’s Complex Commercial Disputes practice, which recently received a National Tier 1 ranking from U.S. News—Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms.”
Brooke and Alper are based in Nixon Peabody’s San Francisco and New York City offices, respectively.
Brooke focuses her practice on the construction and real estate development industries, representing developers, general contractors, architects, consultants, and engineers in all aspects of construction litigation, motion practice, and trial preparation. She has experience handling matters related to defective construction, professional negligence, insurance coverage, project delay, change orders, differing site conditions, contract disputes, and payment bond claims.
“Brooke’s prior experience across medical malpractice, elder abuse, and claims against administrative agencies brings an additional element to our group,” said Robert Weikert, co-leader of Nixon Peabody’s Complex Commercial Disputes practice. “These are transformative times for real estate development and construction in California, and we’re thrilled to add Brooke’s insights and perspectives to our team.”
Alper, a leading practitioner in the field of international commercial arbitration proceedings, represents clients in proceedings administered by many of the world’s leading arbitration bodies, including the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). He focuses his practice on litigation and investigations that include white-collar work and international arbitrations pertaining to commercial disputes, notably in the construction, energy, mining, and infrastructure industries.
“Alper’s extensive business network in Turkey, as well as in the United States, strengthens our ability to tackle client issues from a global perspective,” said Stephen LaRose, co-leader of Nixon Peabody’s Complex Commercial Disputes practice. “He also provides a key linkage between commercial litigation and our firm’s Government Investigations and White-Collar Defense practice.”
A prior recipient of the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Award for pro bono work, Brooke received her JD from Villanova University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Alper received his JSD from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he also worked as a lecturer. The school recently published Alper’s dissertation on the recognition and enforcement of international arbitral awards.
