    For 14th consecutive year, Nixon Peabody earns perfect rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index

    Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody is pleased to announce that it once again earned a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index, marking the fourteenth year in a row the firm has earned a perfect score.

    The Human Rights Campaign, a leading LGBTQ civil rights and advocacy group, each year publishes its Corporate Equality Index—a survey of pro-LGBTQ workplace policies, including transgender-inclusive health care benefits and non-discrimination workplace protections, among others. Nixon Peabody was one of the first law firms in the U.S. to extend welfare and health care coverage to domestic partners.

    In the year since the Human Rights Campaign last issued its Corporate Equality Index results, Nixon Peabody has earned Mansfield Certification Plus designation, indicating that at least 30% of attorneys considered for the firm’s leadership positions, RFPs, and formal pitches come from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ attorneys—and also that the firm has achieved the goal of having diverse attorneys in at least 30% of the firm’s leadership roles.

    “LGBTQ inclusion, diversity, and an openness to our differences create an environment where we can collaborate and foster innovation,” said Andrew Glincher, CEO and managing partner of Nixon Peabody. “It strengthens our ability to problem-solve some of the most pressing legal questions and matters for our clients and navigate a dynamic and constantly changing industry.”

    In addition to workplace policies, the Corporate Equality Index also evaluates community stewardship. For the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising—the watershed moment that launched the modern LGBTQ civil rights movement—Nixon Peabody celebrated with a series of client events across its 16 offices during Pride Month in June 2019. The firm also debuted a video in conjunction with the It Gets Better project, featuring eight attorneys and staff discussing what it means to them to be LGBTQ in Big Law.

    In New York City, where the Stonewall uprising began, Nixon Peabody advised in the development of Stonewall House, the first affordable housing project dedicated to LGBTQ elders in New York City. In partnership with Services & Advocacy for LGBTQ Elders (SAGE), Stonewall House holds the nonprofit’s sixth Ingersoll Senior Center, which provides social services to the affordable housing development’s LGBTQ elderly and residents.
