Los Angeles, CA. As Nixon Peabody continues to expand its West Coast presence, the Global 100 law firm is pleased to announce the addition of counsel S. Desmond Jui, who joins the Intellectual Property practice in Los Angeles.
Nixon Peabody recently welcomed IP partners Erica J. Van Loon and Andrew Y. Choung to the firm, and Desmond will work closely with them on all aspects of patent litigation, from pre-suit investigations to trials to post-grant proceedings and appeals. Desmond is a seasoned litigator, focusing on patent infringement and invalidity matters on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants in the areas of electronics, computing, wireless telecommunications and networking, semiconductors, automotive systems, and other electromechanical technologies.
“Desmond’s experience is a great complement to our strong and well-positioned Intellectual Property team,” said Justin Thompson, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles office. “IP has been and will continue to be a key focus as we expand our Los Angeles footprint. Desmond joins at an ideal time as we are seeing clients across diverse industries experience an uptick in complex intellectual property needs.”
Prior to law school, Desmond was a nuclear engineer for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). His high-tech experience will be a valuable asset to clients and colleagues across practices areas.
Desmond earned a J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and a B.S. from Johns Hopkins University.
