Date: January 27, 2015

Time: 11:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. EST

Due to the impending snow storm, we are postponing this event. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Please check back again soon for more information on the new date. We hope to see you then!

Please join us as we invite LabMD’s president and CEO, Michael J. Daugherty, to sit down to frankly discuss the medical laboratory’s suit against the FTC. In March 2014, LabMD filed suit against the FTC, challenging its enforcement action against LabMD for its data security practices. The first of its kind, this ongoing litigation stands to have a significant impact on future FTC enforcement actions regarding companies’ data security practices.

While the litigation continues, Michael will discuss the FTC’s “surveillance and overreach into cybersecurity, medicine and small business” detailed in his book, The Devil Inside the Beltway, which describes his experiences during the enforcement action. We will also discuss the following:

  • Key factors that led him to file a lawsuit against the FTC
  • FTC’s involvement with private companies like Tiversa
  • Litigation lessons
  • Advice and insights for businesses of all shapes and sizes
  • Practical considerations for businesses who want to fight back

Michael will be joined by Linn Freedman and the discussion will be moderated by Kathryn Sylvia, both of Nixon Peabody LLP.

Limited copies of The Devil Inside the Beltway will be available for purchase and signing. To purchase a copy in advance, please click here.
