Lessons Learned from Detroit and Stockton: Municipal Distress, Illinois Pensions and Evolving Federal and State Law

Date: March 19, 2015

Time: 3:30–6:30 p.m.

Location: Nixon Peabody LLP, Three First National Plaza, 70 West Madison Street, 4th Floor Conference Center, Chicago, IL 60602

The high-profile Detroit and Stockton cases, both resulting in confirmed plans of adjustment, have added more to Chapter 9 experience and law than any other recent municipal insolvencies since Jefferson County and Vallejo. Our experienced panelists will discuss the strategic choices made by these municipalities, and the resulting legal decisions, that may provide guidance for future Chapter 9 cases—and how the legacies of Detroit and Stockton could impact investors and other market players in municipal finance. The program will also address possible Illinois pension and municipal bankruptcy initiatives.

Whether you are able to attend the program or not, please join us for a 5:00 reception to celebrate the Ungaretti & Harris LLP merger with Nixon Peabody LLP.
