Date: December 03, 2015

Time: 10:00–11:30 a.m. Eastern

Location: Webinar (access instructions e-mailed upon registration)

Please join us for a webinar during which we’ll discuss the upcoming release of a proposed wastewater permit by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) for craft breweries, wineries and cideries. If you discharge wastewater and do not have a permit in place, you could be facing significant penalties.

Key topics of discussion will include:

  • Discharge to a water body or a municipal sewer—Nixon Peabody Senior Environmental Health Engineer will discuss why brewery/winery/cidery wastewater is an environmental concern, how it is regulated and what the drivers are in terms of how much treatment is needed
  • NYSDEC’s new draft Wastewater Discharge General SPDES Permit—A representative of NYSDEC will discuss what the streamlined permit requirements are likely to be, how to go about getting a permit and other key issues you need to be thinking about now
  • Treating craft brewery and winery wastewater without breaking the bank—A representative from the equipment vendor, Applied Filtration Technology, Inc. (AFTEK), will discuss how to choose cost effective wastewater treatment equipment to effectively treat these wastewaters
  • Contract issues around equipment purchases related to wastewater treatment—Nixon Peabody Equipment Procurement attorney will discuss issues you need to consider when buying or leasing wastewater treatment equipment
