While smart phones and social media allow entrepreneurs to communicate with customers directly and cheaply, they also provide a myriad of ways to run afoul of consumer protection laws that regulate such communications. Laws and regulations governing phone calls, text messaging, e-mails, social media, sweepstakes, and even gambling can create roadblocks for companies. We will give an overview of these laws and regulations and provide insight into how businesses can comply while still marketing their goods and services.
