New York, NY. Nixon Peabody LLP has been selected by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel Commission of Virginia to serve as bond and disclosure counsel for the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project.

The project will add an additional two-lane tunnel under the Thimble Shoal Channel to expand the capacity and improve the safety for travelers who utilize the CBBT. The CBBT is the sole connector between the Delmarva Peninsula and the Hampton Roads area. This project will protect the economic competitiveness and livability of the region for years to come.

Nixon Peabody partner Kenneth Lind will lead the bond work for this project and partner Mitch Rapaport will lead the tax work. Nixon Peabody’s team is focused on providing legal advice to find the most efficient and effective way to leverage toll revenues, federal loan proceeds, and various other funding sources to finance the project.

Nixon Peabody’s Public Finance practice has a national reputation for innovative work in financing a wide range of municipal and infrastructure projects—from mass transit and hospitals to baseball stadiums, student loans, public power and housing. The practice is ranked among the ten most active bond, underwriters and disclosure counsel nationally in dollar value of bonds issued.
