Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP advised the trustees of Noble Hospital (Westfield, MA) in their combination with Baystate Health (Springfield, MA). Effective July 1st, Noble and its affiliated entities are now part of Baystate. With the closing of the transaction deal, Noble is renamed Baystate Noble Hospital Corporation.

Announced in March 2015, talks between Baystate and Noble moved quickly and smoothly. The transaction was consummated following unanimous approval by the Massachusetts Public Health Council, as well as clearances from the Health Policy Commission, the Department of Public Health and the Office of the Attorney General. Nixon Peabody health care partner Carolyn Jacoby Gabbay, who has represented Noble for 20+ years, served as the hospital’s lead legal counsel. Other Nixon Peabody deal team members included David Martland, Christopher Browning and Anita Pelletier.

Under the agreement, Noble and affiliates Westfield Medical Corporation and Noble Visiting Nurse & Hospice are now part of Baystate’s network – increasing the number of patients served by this leading Western Massachusetts health-care system. Noble’s patients will continue to have convenient access to a variety of high quality inpatient and outpatient services, including medical, surgical, rehabilitation, behavioral health and emergency services. In addition to ensuring Noble’s future stability, the combination with Baystate will enhance area residents’ access to specialty care services in the local community.
