Paris & Norman, OK. The University of Oklahoma, the OU Foundation and the Léone Meyer family have achieved a successful resolution regarding the Pissarro painting “Shepherdess Bringing in Sheep” and its future. Terms of the agreement acknowledge the good faith of the University, the OU Foundation and the Meyer family, as well as that of the Weitzenhoffer family. The agreement requires the painting to continue to be on permanent public display and available for educational purposes with evenly rotating public display between the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and a museum institution in France. To achieve the mutual resolution, the agreement transfers the painting’s title to Ms. Meyer, with Ms. Meyer donating the painting to a French public institution. A label will accompany the painting’s display and publication setting forth its provenance as currently known and delineated and its history. Nixon Peabody partners Thaddeus Stauber, Sarah Andre, and Kristin Jamberdino, with associate Jessica Walker, represented the University of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma Foundation.
