Hong Kong. Nixon Peabody CWL represented Wong Pui Fan, the widow of the late Dr. Mong Man Wai William, in a HK$280 million claim by Shun Hing Electronic Holdings Limited and Shun Hing Electronic Trading Company Limited. Dr. Mong was the former founder, chairman, and managing director of the Shun Hing Group, the sole agent for Panasonic and brands of electrical products and appliances, sourced in Japan, for the Hong Kong and Macau markets.

Prior to his death in 2010, Dr. Mong withdrew HK$280M from the two plaintiff companies. The companies claimed he breached his director’s duty when he made these withdrawals and Wong knew about the alleged breach upon receipt of the money. Wong denied this and was never notified of an alleged breach of director’s duty or trust.

On September 30, 2016, the High Court of Hong Kong ruled in favor of Wong saying the plaintiffs did not have a viable claim against Wong and the legal action was dismissed.

The Nixon Peabody CWL legal team was led by consultant Raymond Lo.
