Hong Kong. Nixon Peabody CWL in Hong Kong has added two new consultants. Rollin Chan and David Tang have joined the firm from their respective private practices.

Rollin was most recently the head of legal for Deutsche Bank (China) Co. Ltd.  His practice includes both corporate transactions and arbitrations. David has an active cross-border practice representing a wide array of Chinese companies investing and doing business in the United Kingdom.

“The addition of these lawyers demonstrates our commitment to grow our firm with colleagues who have specialized experience and are highly regarded in the respective practices,” said Matthew Lam, co-managing partner of Nixon Peabody CWL.

Rollin works with clients on cross-border investments, securities and debt financings of all forms (loan, bonds, repos and securitizations), including over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives and structured finance in Asia, particularly China.  He was involved in drafting the People’s Bank of China (PBOC)/National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors (NAMFII) derivatives master documentation and the Bonds Repo master agreement for the China interbank market.

“Rollin’s deep experience in the financial arena strengthens our ability to handle transactions and disputes within that industry,” said Joanne Wu, co-managing partner of Nixon Peabody CWL.  Rollin is currently a member of the NAFMII Legal Committee and is on the panel of arbitrators for Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), and Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC).

Based primarily in London, David is a legal advisor called upon by the Chinese embassy to assist Chinese companies in the UK.  David Cheng, chair and managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s China & Asia Pacific practice, notes that David’s UK practice “demonstrates the increasingly global nature of legal work coming from Asia.”

A licensed pilot, David Tang also has extensive experience working in the aviation industry. His work includes immigration, residential and commercial property transactions, matrimonial, civil and criminal litigations, judicial review matters.
