Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody is pleased to welcome John Fernandes to its Boston office joining the firm’s Government Relations and Public Policy practice. John is a former member of the Massachusetts State Legislature.
John counsels private and public sector clients on complex business, regulatory and government issues at both the federal and state levels. John’s areas of focus include public policy representation and advocacy, real estate development, land use zoning and planning, business representation and residential and commercial finance. “I see great opportunity for businesses to thrive and grow in public-private partnerships as communities, states and regions compete for businesses,” said John Fernandes.

As a legislator, John also founded and led a legislative manufacturing caucus and served as a governor’s appointee to the Massachusetts Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative.
“John’s background in government can help our clients better anticipate legislative and regulatory changes that may impact their businesses,” said Ruth Silman, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Boston office. “We’re excited to welcome John to our Boston office and look forward to having him as a member of our team.”
