Boston, MA. Plans are underway to convert a historic downtown Boston building into affordable housing units. Groundbreaking of The Union, a 46-unit complex at 48 Boylston Street, took place last week. Nixon Peabody partners Paul Bouton, Ruth Silman and Forrest Milder, and associate Christina Ricotta represented the co-developers of this project, The Planning Office for Urban Affairs and St. Francis House. Close to the Boston Common, a majority of the units at The Union will be occupied by formerly homeless individuals. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of this year.
