Chicago, IL. Nixon Peabody LLP represented Blackstone Group in a lease to open a food hall in the Willis Tower, Chicago’s tallest skyscraper and popular city attraction.

Urbanspace, a major developer in the food retail space, signed a lease with Willis Tower owner and private equity firm Blackstone Group to open a food hall in the 110-story building downtown. Urbanspace will lease more than 14,000 square feet in the 300,000-square-foot retail development.

“Food halls are opening at a significantly increased rate. Consumers are looking beyond the traditional fast-food experience, and landlords want to offer a unique fast-casual dining experience,” said David Allswang, partner in Nixon Peabody’s Real Estate practice who led the firm’s team on this deal. “This is a win-win for consumers and retailers alike.”

The food hall, which will open under the name “Catalog” in 2020, will be Urbanspace’s first location outside of New York.
