Chicago, IL. Nixon Peabody advised Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in its merger with integrated health care network OSF HealthCare (OSF). When the deal closed on January 31, 2020, the combined entity was renamed OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary Medical Center.

With 2,100 employees, OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary operates health care centers in Chicago and in suburbs Oak Lawn, Palos Heights, and Burbank. OSF operates 13 health care facilities across Illinois and Michigan, and is owned and operated by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.

Through the merger, OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary Medical Center will promote greater access to, and improve coordination of, health care services to the communities previously served by the two health care entities. At the same time, the merger will help facilitate increased excellence in clinical innovations, services, and quality, while lowering costs and improving outcomes.

Nixon Peabody’s deal team was led by partner Tom Fahey and counsel April Schweitzer, and included partners Lisa Sullivan and Valerie Montague, and associates Gretchen Sherwood and Ethan Domsten.

In addition to assisting with the merger, Nixon Peabody counseled Little Company of Mary through the partner selection process and helped address several health care regulatory and finance matters.
