Mary E. Bruch is an associate in the Affordable Housing group that represents owners, landlords, buyers and sellers in affordable housing transactions in New York and nationwide.
I represent clients in all aspects of affordable housing transactions. This includes performing due diligence, obtaining financing, seeking regulatory approvals and drafting and reviewing closing documents. My experience as assistant counsel at the Department of City Planning of New York has given me substantial knowledge of the land use and zoning process as well as the Mandatory Inclusionary Housing law.
I previously served as special assistant to the city's Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development (oversees implementation of Mayor de Blasio’s Housing New York 2.0 plan to preserve or create 300,000 units of affordable housing). While at city hall, I coordinated neighborhood development efforts and implemented the JamaicaNow! Action Plan with multiple-stakeholder group and government agency partners.
We are seeing changes to affordable housing programs as a result of shifting priorities at all levels of government. In response, innovation at the state and local level is needed to unlock new financing tools and construction methods. I look forward to working with clients to meet the growing need in our region by leveraging creative methods to preserve and develop affordable housing.
