Francis was previously the chief scientific officer and co-founder of Telamens, Inc., and has worked in several startups as well as large research-focused organizations. He has been published in numerous technical journals, and is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemistry Society. Francis received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, and received his B.S. in chemistry from McGill University in Montreal, QC.
