Anais Masiello is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s Entertainment group. Anais advises on entertainment and broad-based corporate transactions for clients in technology and digital media, fashion and advertising.
My practice involves three main areas of focus, leveraging my experience in digital media and entertainment law, my background in marketing and business development and my passion for brand building and the arts. I serve as a trusted advisor for management companies, new media and celebrity talent, advertising agencies, artists and entrepreneurs.
I negotiate and draft representation, talent and vendor services and distribution agreements on behalf of producers, talent and distributors in the entertainment and digital media space, such as multi-channel network, e-sports, augmented and virtual reality, podcast and livestream deals. I am also an experienced production attorney acting on behalf of studios, producers and talent in all areas of television and motion picture development, production and distribution. I work closely with clients to advise and consult on new content ventures to ensure all rights are properly secured and that the deal reflects the client’s short- and long-term objectives.
I provide business and legal support to advertising agencies and talent for endorsements, ambassadorships, branded content, direct media and digital advertising, experiential campaigns and traditional advertising opportunities. I ensure arrangements between advertisers, agencies and talent are compliant with applicable laws and regulations and allow for the ongoing success of the parties.
I secure licensing and merchandising agreements for talent, entrepreneurs and businesses in many different product categories such as apparel, cosmetics, subscription boxes, figurines, video games and mobile apps. I advise clients on building their brands and provide cost-effective strategies when dealing with intellectual property protection and infringement.
I foresee increased monetization, diversification and collaboration opportunities for brands and talent alike in the ever-evolving digital atmosphere, which will only continue to become more mainstream. This will lead to more cross-over between digital and traditional media, content and businesses. I am keeping a close watch on legal issues and trends that affect the industry so I can help clients navigate the changing landscape and achieve their business goals.
