Stanton Miller serves as outside general counsel for small and mid-size manufacturing and service businesses. He has extensive experience in the construction and publishing industries.
Today, I focus my practice in three principal areas.
As outside general counsel and advisor for closely held businesses, I assist clients on day-to-day strategic and long-range legal challenges.
I have negotiated myriad construction and design contracts for complex projects, including factories, hospitals, churches and museums. I also assist in the resolution of construction disputes, including conflicting claims of ownership of design documents, mechanic’s liens and related claims.
I have long-standing relationships with clients in the audio publishing industry and have broad knowledge of copyright laws. I regularly negotiate and structure content-driven licenses.
I have been following a number of disputes concerning the intellectual property rights in construction documents. Recent court decisions, file sharing via the Internet and an accelerating construction market are creating an environment in which all players will need to tread carefully.
