Kat Murphy is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s M&A Corporate Transactions practice group. Kat focuses her practice primarily on corporate, finance, securities and banking law.
I counsel companies and financial institutions at all stages of business development, including regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions and bank and commercial finance transactions.
I have experience in a wide range of corporate legal matters including mergers and acquisition, secured and unsecured lending transactions and various other bank-related transactions. I have worked closely with in-house counsel across an array of industries, including financial institutions, media, manufacturing, retail and technology. Most recently, I have assisted in the representation of a digital media company with its acquisition of multiple technology companies and websites.
Conditions are ideal for growing companies to expand their industry footprint—or enter an adjacent industry—through strategic acquisitions. I believe that sort of business growth will require law firms to be more flexible and creative, breaking down traditional barriers between legal disciplines to provide guidance that suits a client’s needs across a wider spectrum.
