Renee Thompson is the firm’s Docketing Team Leader and provides docket and court rules/procedures support to attorneys in the Rochester, Buffalo and Chicago offices for all litigation, labor, intellectual property, real property and trust and estates matters.
As firm docketing services team leader, my responsibilities encompass all aspects of docketing and electronic filing services, including consulting with firm management regarding docketing technology upgrades and docketing procedures; training and supporting all of the managing and docket clerks in firm procedures and best practices; developing training and practice group presentations for attorneys and staff; monitoring compliance; conducting attorney and staff orientation and exit planning; and coordinating docketing coverage for all the firm offices.
My focus is to bring a consistently high level of reliability for our docketing services across the firm and to ensure that we utilize industry recognized best-in-class technology to provide our attorneys with their docket information when and where they can best leverage it into superior responsiveness to our clients’ needs.
I’m observing improvements in docketing software and the potential for integration with external applications. This opens up exciting possibilities for increased communication and better case management. I see managing clerks providing information that attorneys need to anticipate next steps and becoming an integral part of the case management team.
