Shanghai, China, and San Francisco, CA. International law firm Nixon Peabody LLP is pleased to announce that it has donated a portion of its Shanghai office space to ChinaSF, a collaborative public/private economic development initiative that successfully creates business connections between China and San Francisco. ChinaSF’s Shanghai office will share space with Nixon Peabody on the 62nd floor of the Plaza 66 office building in Shanghai’s Puxi area.

ChinaSF, operated by the San Francisco Center for Economic Development and the City of San Francisco with the financial and strategic backing of businesses and other organizations, focuses on promoting trade and commerce between China and San Francisco. Launched by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2008, the organization has already encouraged the opening of facilities for 13 Chinese companies in San Francisco, in the solar energy, digital media, and biotech fields. Most recently, in December, ChinaSF announced the opening of the China Medical City representative office in San Francisco’s Mission Bay. ChinaSF also has a branch office in Beijing.

“ChinaSF is a terrific organization that creates amazing opportunities for Chinese companies in the U.S. as these companies navigate the complexities of doing business abroad,” said David Cheng, chair and managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s China & Asia Pacific practice.

Ginny Fang, ChinaSF’s executive director added, “With the support of great partners like Nixon Peabody, we are closer to accomplishing our goal of creating important business connections between Chinese and San Francisco–based companies.”

Nixon Peabody entered the China market in 2008. In addition to its office in Shanghai, the law firm recently opened an office in Hong Kong in association with Hong Kong law firm Cheng Wong Lam & Partners. Lawyers in both the Shanghai and Hong Kong offices handle the wide range of inbound and outbound legal matters for Chinese, U.S., and European clients.
