Boston, MA. Nixon Peabody LLP, a Global 100 law firm, and CWL Partners, a leading Asian law firm based in Hong Kong, have agreed to consolidate operations and marketing in Hong Kong as of October 1, 2015. This combination dramatically expands Nixon Peabody’s presence in Asia with more than 30 lawyers and legal professionals in one of the world’s most dynamic economic centers.

The combined firm will now be known as Nixon Peabody CWL in Hong Kong, but will remain as Nixon Peabody LLP in the U.S., Europe and in the firm’s Shanghai, China, office. The two firms have been formally associated with each other since 2010. Distinct and legally independent from Nixon Peabody LLP, Nixon Peabody CWL will remain a solicitors’ firm in the form of a Hong Kong general partnership, but be a part of Nixon Peabody’s brand platform.

“Our strategic priorities are concentrated on uncovering significant opportunities to better serve our clients and this combination is a terrific example of that,” said Andrew I. Glincher, CEO and managing partner of Nixon Peabody LLP. “We are excited to work more closely with our colleagues in Hong Kong as we focus on the current and future needs of our U.S. and Asian clients conducting business internationally.”

“This combination is the culmination of many successful years working with the CWL team,” added David K. Cheng, chair of Nixon Peabody’s China & Asia Pacific practice. “As our clients’ business needs evolve in Asia, we have a robust team on the ground in a major financial center ready to help our clients tackle a broad scope of transactional and litigation challenges.”

From Hong Kong, Nixon Peabody CWL provides a broad range of legal solutions and advises clients on, among other things, inbound and outbound M&A and investment transactions, Hong Kong IPOs and corporate finance, intellectual property, investment fund formation, media and entertainment matters, and legal disputes. “We are pleased to expand our relationship with Nixon Peabody. This combination gives us a true global footprint and enables us to better provide resources for our clients with their business and legal needs around the world,” said Kenneth Wong, who served as managing partner of CWL Partners and will continue to serve in that role at Nixon Peabody CWL.

The lawyers of Nixon Peabody CWL have decades of experience representing clients, including public companies; private enterprises; PRC businesses; private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds; investment banks; financial institutions; entrepreneurs; high-net-worth individuals, large NGOs, and company directors.
