Minnie Au is an associate in Nixon Peabody CWL’s Litigation and Intellectual Property Department in Hong Kong.
I primarily assist with regional IP portfolio management, including trademark and patent filing, searching and pre-filing advice, renewals, assignments, licenses, and oppositions or revocations, both in the registry and the courts. I also assist in IP/IT dispute resolution and enforcement of IP rights, including trademark and name disputes, copyright, and patent disputes through to trial.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has already become a part of our everyday lives and is transforming the way we live and work. In areas where AI and intellectual property intersect, a number of challenges have been raised such as the patentability of autonomous machine inventions and the impact of AI on issues of trademark infringement liability. I anticipate that copyrights and trademark laws may need to be redefined in the age of AI to cope with the rapidly evolving trends.
Minnie works on all IP related matters from registration through to civil and criminal litigation. She has a solid common law and litigation background with experience extending to company structuring and shareholder disputes, matrimonial matters, as well as wills and probate.
Prior to joining the legal profession, Minnie worked as an analyst and programmer for various government departments and banks.
