Matt King is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s Affordable Housing & Real Estate group where he represents owners, lenders, developers, contractors, and design firms on a range of construction and real estate matters across industry sectors.
Matt is admitted to practice in Ohio and is supervised by attorneys admitted to practice in New York.
I represent clients on construction and real estate matters, including agreements for construction management, design-build, design services, acquisitions, dispositions, procurement support for capital projects, leasing, and zoning matters. In connection with these matters, I draft, review, negotiate, and revise industrial, office, warehouse, and retail leases; notices; title objection letters; closing documents; guarantees; SNDAs; estoppels; and various amendments. I also conduct title and survey review, and other related due diligence for acquisitions ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to over one billion dollars in value. My practice also includes advising clients on proposed easement expansion and potential extinguishment issues.
I have experience on projects across various asset classes, including hotel developments, fulfillment centers, sports stadiums, casino and gaming developments, shopping centers, and industrial and commercial facilities.
While COVID-19 has had tremendous impacts on both the construction and commercial real estate industries, those owners and developers able to “weather the storm” will find themselves well positioned to capitalize on an exciting new era full of opportunity and investment. I, along with my colleagues, am thrilled to be a part of what is sure to be a historic period of growth in a variety of sectors.
