Stan Widger represents clients in virtually all matters involving energy, including regulation of energy providers, contracting for energy services, construction and transfer of facilities and mergers and acquisitions.
In my practice, I deal with a broad range of energy-related issues. Much of my focus is on helping clients to navigate economic regulation that governs much of the relationship between energy providers and customers. In that role, I represent clients before regulatory bodies, such as the New York Public Service Commission, that set rates and other conditions of service. With increased emphasis on access to lower-cost and cleaner energy sources, as well as greater reliability of supply, I am actively involved in issues relating to new and upgraded energy infrastructure, including renewable resources.
I also represent clients in obtaining regulatory approvals of transfers of energy facilities as well as approvals required for mergers and acquisitions of energy companies. My goal in representing clients in these and other matters is to give clients the benefit of my 40-plus years of experience in the energy and regulatory fields and to help them anticipate what future events and policies may affect them and how to deal with those events.
Virtually every aspect of the energy business is becoming increasingly politicized. In representing clients in this field, I ensure that they understand the impact of this reality and help them develop and implement strategies for dealing with it.
