John Witmeyer concentrates in estate and gift tax planning and estate and trust administration. He is experienced in counseling individuals in planning for the preservation and transmission of their wealth, and representing corporate and individual fiduciaries in estate and trust administration.
Mr. Witmeyer frequently participated as an invited speaker at continuing legal education programs for the state and local bar associations. He was a regular lecturer at the New York State Bankers Association Tax and Estate Planning School, has lectured at the University of Rochester’s Annual Tax Planning Institute, and for many years taught the American College’s estate planning course for Chartered Life Underwriters.

Mr. Witmeyer was a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; and is a member of the New York State (Trusts and Estates Section) and Monroe County (former member, Executive Council of the Trust and Estate Section) Bar Associations; and of the Estate Planning Council of Rochester.
His community affiliations include Rochester Museum & Science Center (director, 2005-2013); Sunset House Hospice (director, 1990–present; Board Chair 2010-2012); St. John Fisher College Planned Giving Committee (member and past chair); Seniorsfirst Development Committee (member); Rochester Area Community Foundation Profession Liaison Committee (1998-2004); Rochester General Hospital Council (member and past chair); ViaHealth (director, 1998–2000); Presbyterian Residence Center (Valley Manor) (Director, 1977-1992 and past Board Chair); Rochester Institute of Technology Advisory Committee to the College of Liberal Arts (past member and chair); Rochester General Hospital (director, 1983–1998; board chair, 1995–1997; and past chair of its Executive, Finance, Pension and Investment Performance Review committees); Greater Rochester Health System (founding director); and Hospital Consortium of Greater Rochester, Inc.
