Kaitlyn B. Barnett is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s Private Clients group. Kaitlyn focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, tax planning and estate and trust administration.
I work with clients to develop custom estate plans that include drafting of wills, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies, revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts and gifting trusts. Each plan is specifically tailored to meet the unique needs and desires of the individual or family.
I also assist fiduciaries with estate and trust administration, which includes guiding clients and appointed representatives through the probate process.
There are frequent changes to legislation, case law and the tax code that can significantly impact the effectiveness of various estate planning techniques. As a result, I see the need to account for and anticipate such changes when drafting original estate plans by creating plans that are more flexible to ensure clients’ original goals remain achieved notwithstanding new legal developments.
