    Introduction

    Jamal Magee is an associate in Nixon Peabody’s Real Estate group. He has experience in commercial real estate matters, working on all aspects including acquisitions, dispositions, leasings, and financings. He represents major financial institutions, developers, landlords, tenants, and private equity funds.

    /My focus

    General Real Estate Transactions

    I focus my practice on development agreements, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, recapitalizations, joint venture transactions, construction agreements, and other transactional and organizational documents. I have assisted developers and owners in all aspects of a sale or purchase, including, without limitation, drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, leases, and loan documents.

    Real Estate Finance Transactions

    I focus my real estate finance practice on representing both investors and lenders in a wide variety of real estate financing transactions, including acquisition financing, construction and permanent loans, loan participations, syndications and bifurcations, seller financing, mezzanine loans, and fund financing.

    Corporate Transactions

    I advise clients who have real property assets in connection with corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions or the establishment of subsidiary holding companies. These services include summarizing existing and to-be-acquired assets, entity formation including fund formations, corporate governance, and financing. Also, I counsel clients throughout the entire life-cycle of government contracts, from evaluating pre-solicitation postings to close out procedures and if needed through the bid protest process.

    /Looking ahead

    I expect to see a rise in urban commercial office building conversions to commercial multi-family buildings, urban storage facilities, industrial warehouse renovations and acquisitions, and fund financing transactions.
