Introduction
Patrick Tierney represents real estate developers, investors, owners, and lenders nationwide, helping tenants' structure, negotiate, and close complex real estate transactions across the country. With deep connections in the industry, Patrick guides entrepreneurs and companies in finding, hiring, and working with the right attorneys for their various legal needs.
My focus
I focus my practice on joint ventures, development and ground leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, 1031 exchanges, financing, and other real estate transactions. With nearly 20 years of experience, I have worked across a variety of asset classes including office, retail, ground-up developments, hotels, restaraunts, residential and mixed used buildings, medical office buildings, shopping centers, and ski resorts. Combining this experience with my previous business roots, I provide practical, creative, thorough, and compassionate guidance to my clients.
I grew up in a family that owned and operated a small business. I worked at a startup, and am an active angel investor, advisor, and mentor. I speak the language of business fluently. I deeply understand my clients’ pain points and actively work to connect my entrepreneur clients with lawyers who have the right personality and skills, making sure that they have the best lawyers for each of their legal needs. My style of practice is to be my clients’ trusted advisor, confidant, and advocate. I deeply value treating my clients and counterparts as humans—with dignity, patience, and respect. As a result, I get complicated deals done with less stress and more joy.
Looking ahead
Higher interest rates will suppress some commercial real estate deals. Key sectors like data centers and affordable housing will continue to grow. AI will impact company formation and team building. Venture returns may change due to fewer exits and longer hold periods, but if new rules unlock the IPO market, large investors may push for exits.
