Introduction
Tristan Ellis is a trial and appellate lawyer, experienced in all facets of complex litigation in federal and state courts, and a member of Nixon Peabody’s Government Investigations and White Collar Defense practice group in the firm’s Litigation Department. He also maintains an active pro bono practice.
My focus
I engage in all aspects of state and federal litigation, at both the trial and appellate levels, and represent individuals and companies through all stages of government investigations, internal investigations, and complex civil and criminal litigation. I am experienced in internal and regulatory investigations, pre-litigation and alternative dispute resolution, and all aspects of litigation.
Prior to joining NP, I worked in private practice and was a law clerk for the Honorable Rosemary S. Pooler, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Edward R. Korman, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
Looking ahead
Organizations face a legal and regulatory landscape that is constantly changing and becoming more complex. Evolving law enforcement priorities, heightened scrutiny from regulators, and rapid advances in technologies such as artificial intelligence are reshaping how businesses assess risk, maintain compliance, and respond to investigations and disputes. As the pace of change continues to accelerate, companies need counsel who understand not only the legal issues of today, but also the developments on the horizon, and who can translate that insight into practical, business-focused guidance.
