Introduction
Jon represents financial institutions in connection with loans secured by real property throughout the United States. Earlier in his career, Jon was a US Army captain with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he prosecuted felony and misdemeanor level offenses and advised military commanders on misconduct investigations and soldier misconduct.
My focus
I represent lenders in commercial mortgage financing transactions, including construction loans, mezzanine financings, and long term permanent financings, through all stages of a transaction. My work includes drafting and negotiating loan documents, reviewing borrower legal opinions, and analyzing property surveys, title insurance policies, leases, and other due diligence materials to ensure readiness for closing. I also analyze purchase and sale agreements, commercial leases, and ground leases in connection with acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions.
Looking ahead
The real estate industry continues to experience the stress caused by the pandemic and the related impact on existing real estate loans. As we enter 2026, owners and lenders will need to move forward with permanent refinancings for loans that were amended and extended on a short-term basis over the last few years while the parties waited for activity to stabilize or return to pre-pandemic levels.
