Introduction
Ryan Malo is a litigator and former in-house attorney who represents entities and individuals in a wide variety of investigations and complex criminal and civil litigation.
My focus
My practice focuses on all aspects of government investigations, white-collar criminal cases, internal investigations, regulatory enforcement matters, and complex commercial disputes. I advise clients on responding to subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and deposition requests involving various enforcement agencies, including the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and state attorneys general. I also have experience conducting Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations and related mergers-and-acquisitions diligence across the private equity, consumer products, technology, and manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining NP, I served as general counsel for a private equity-backed software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform in the govtech industry, assessing legal risk, managing outside counsel, and advising senior executives on litigation, commercial contracting, data privacy, and employment matters. I also have experience as an associate at another global law firm, where I focused on government enforcement actions and white-collar defense. After graduating from law school, I clerked for the Honorable Renée Marie Bumb and the Honorable Noel L. Hillman of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. Before my legal career, I served as a police officer in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Armed with these unique experiences, I bring a pragmatic and thorough approach to investigations, litigation, and crisis management for clients.

Looking ahead
Federal and state government agencies continue to aggressively investigate and prosecute white-collar crimes, with a recent focus across industries on trade crimes, money laundering, and waste, fraud, and abuse of government programs. With the DOJ prioritizing the prosecution of individual offenders for corporate misconduct, companies and executives must work with nimble and experienced counsel to effectively defend against enforcement actions.
